Dial-Up Password Not Saved

Windows XP is not saving my dial-up password. Everytime
the Dial-Up Network window opens and promps for a
connection, the "Password" field has some weird 16
character password in it. Even when I enter the correct
password, click the "Save Password" box, and successfully
connect, the password is not actually saved. So, the
next time I need to connect, the Dial-Up Network window
again opens with some 16 charater password. How do I get
it to save my password?

Windows XP always shows 16 characters for the password, no matter how
long it actually is. The saved password should be fine.
