dial-up connection and ieee 1394 connection icons are missing

My dial-up connection icon and ieee 1394 connection icon disappear in the Network Connections. For the dial-up connection, however, I can still see it in the Connection Tab of Internet Properties. I remove the dial-up connection from there and re-create one, it once again disappear after a few minutes. Furthermore, my Internet Connection Sharing option is not avaliable anymore (which use to be there). I have not create any network bridge.
