My friend has a dila up connection .

We have tried a BT Voyager 105 (usb) and a BT voyager 190 (Ethernet cable) modem both plug in types .

The BT voyager came with a BT set up disc . We can get the pc (old) to recognise the modem and load drivers , but it will not connect to the internet . Error Code 680 No Dial Tone is all we can get .

The BT 190 has lights but is not seen by the pc .

Why can we not connect with these , they work for my pc ??

Am I barcking up the wrong tree , and do I simply need a Dial-Up plug in modem ??

Well the Voyagers came as part of a broadband package so they worked on my broadband enabled line . My mate only has a ordinary phone line so they did not work . It looks like he needs a Dial-Up modem so I ordered him one of these . Hope it does the job .

Ah, I never twigged when I read the first line!

Yep, that modem should do the trick nicely if he wants to use dialup :thumb:
