about the same time everyday my win xp system loses the dhcp connection from my linksys router ( BEFSR41 ) . the event log says

initially it says

Your computer was not able to renew its address from the networ
(from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network addres
000C761AA6D9. The following error occurred:
The semaphore timeout period has expired. . Your computer wil
continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the networ
address (DHCP) server

and then it dies and says

Your computer has lost the lease to its IP address 192.168.1.2 on th
Network Card with network address 000C761AA6D9

when the connection is lost , i cannot reconnect , no matter what i try , requiring in a reboot

the router is set to keep alive the connection . my win 2k install ( on the same hardware ) had no issue like this .

any help would be much appreciated .

I found the Linksys router flash eprom update on their
site cured the same problem I had.

Maybe that will help you too.
