DHCP Server Error

P

P Lad

Currently using Win2K Advanced server SP4.

Looking at events in Event Viewer :-
1. The DHCP service starts to clean up database.
2. After the cleanup starts DHCP server errors appear.
Following error is prompted 'THE JET DATABASE CALL
RETURNED THE FOLLOWING ERROR : -510. ADDITIONAL DEBUG
INFORMATION : JetBackuptoNULL

3. The above error caused the server to crash and a reboot
was necessary.

4. I also find XP clients are unable to login after a
reboot of the server. I normally stop and start DHCP
Server and then delete the XP users IP lease. Clients
then reboot their Client PC's.

Please can you help with the above.

Hello,

Are you running InnoculateIT Anti-virus software?

If yes, are you scanning System32/DHCP or System32/WINS directories?

If can you configure InoculateIT to not scan anything in the System32/DHCP
or System32/WINS directories, that would be the best and easiest way to do
this.
That way you don't have to specify specific files.

If you can't specify folders, then the file extensions would be those used
by WINS and DHCP, .mdb, .log, .chk, .pat, .sun .mon, .tue, .wed, .thu, .fri,
..sat.

Other things to try
=============
1) Restart the DHCP server database
2) Jetpack the dhcp.mdb file to correct the corruption issue
3) Rebuild the dhcp database (which appears to have resolved the issue)

Hi Diana,

Many thanks for your reply. I apologise I did not reply
sooner. We are not running Innoculate IT anti-virus
software. The jetpack command failed to compact the DHCP
database. I have rebuilt the DHCP database (as shown in
article 173396). The DHCP service seems to be OK at the
moment. I will let you know if the problem persists.

kind regards, Pritesh

Hi Diana,

The DHCP error appeared again in the event viewer.
Same error appeared = 'THE JET DATABASE CALL
RETURNED THE FOLLOWING ERROR : -510. ADDITIONAL DEBUG
INFORMATION : JetBackuptoNULL

I have rebuilt the DHCP database twice before. The DHCP
database was working fine for 3/4 days and the same error
appeared. I had to restart the DHCP service so resolve
the DHCP error. Have you have any further ideas why the
DHCP error appeared again after 3/4 days of normal
operation ?

kind regards, Pritesh
