I'm ussing WXP Home SP1 and suddenly, the Device Manager in System Management
is empty, but in save mode all devices are visible.

Already google for an answer, but can't find the right solution.

Who can help me with this?

I have WXP PRO and as of yesterday I can't see anything in my Device manager,
my internet connections are gone and when I go to My computer it takes a min
before my drives will display. Could this be a virus?? Sys restore will not
help.

I am also having the same problem with my XP pro machine. device manager is
empty, lost my network icon and no network connections are displayed in
Network Connections. I also have a very slow boot, and "hickuping" while
using the machine.

I am reading another thread from last month that references Windows update
KB905749 that might be causing this problem. I am about to remove this
update and see if it makes any difference. Will post my results.

I click on the Device Manager button via "control panel/system/hardware" tab
- it opens the window BUT THERE ARE NO HARDWARES BEING LISTED - IT IS JUST A
BLANK WHITE SPACE!!!! I do have menus showing above the window:
"file/action/view/help" as well as a row of icon commands. but as far as the
rest of the window JUST A BLANK WHITE SPACE!!!! Where are the views to all
the devices??? PLEASE OFFER ASSISTANCE! thanks

This issue showing up recently, seems to be caused by a Malware named
Apropos.C. It installs a Kernel driver with a random file name. More
information available at:

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/spyware.apropos.c.html

Removal tool:

See if running the AproposFix tool below helps:
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,14679793

Note that the utility referenced above removes a Malware reponsible for
blank device manager.
