Problems with Android Virtual Device Manager: No system images installed.

I am having trouble with the AVD Manager when I am creating a new virtual device. I selected the latest SDK and was unable to select a system image because the DropDown was disabled with the message "No system images installed."
The thing is that if I select a previous SDK, the system images are available for me to select. I have already tried restarting my IDE and my computer, but the system images still don't show up.

Just had a quick Google and it appears you're not the only one encountering this problem - it looks like it's a compatibility problem with the latest SDK:

Well thank you for answering so quickly, now I can see that it's not something that I was doing wrong. Hopefully I can resolve this issue so I can get back to developing my app.

I am trying my hand at a mobile card game called "Gridlock". Basically you take turns playing your cards on the field matching them to the cards already on the board.
