device connected thro' serial port

I connected a garmin GPS thro' the serial port and added
the drivers for the USB connector. When I connect the
device the mouse goes berserk and I lose all control.
The lads at Garmin tell me that the fault lies with
microsoft and there is a fix for it - but where? I am
trying to run the GPS device with Microsoft autoroute
2004.

If "the lads at Garmin know there is a fix for it," they ought to tell you
where it is and given the fact they have told you there's a fix, they should
know where it is. We'd be looking for a needle in a haystack.

It might be nothing more than installing SP-1 but we have no way of knowing
and I'm not saying that is the fix.

Also, since your mouse doesn't go berserk until you install the Garmin
drivers, it's clearly a problem with their drivers and drivers are the
responsibility of the manufacturer.
