I have windows XP. When I startup I try to click on a icon
on my desktop, and a image comes on the desktop. It is
labelled Program not found and the information
says "Windows cannot find FIREFOX.EXE. this program is
needed for opening files of type "URL:HyperText Transfer
Protocol. Type in the executable file to be used. (I
previously installed it 2 days previously, and then
deleted it from my computer.) I also have a
Shell_Notifycon fail on the desktop.I tried to restore to
a earlier date but it failed. Can you help me?

This generally happens after running spyware cleaners, etc. See if this

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Also, URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol can be checked here for the valid
line: Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types/URL:HyperText
Transfer Protocol/Advanced/Edit/
Application used to perform action.

Sounds like you need to repair the exe and possibly lnk file
associations. Go to this link:

and run the EXE and LNK file association fixes.
