Desktop Icons

I just noticed that on my desktop, the icons have a solid
background behind them instead of a transparent one, but
on my mother's desktop, she has a transparent one. I have
fiddled with the settings for a while and I still can't
find a solution. Any help would be much appreciated.

Go to Control Panel, System, Advanced, Performance. Check Use drop shadows
for icon labels............... Note: This will only work if you don't have
any Web Content enabled on the Desktop.
