Desktop Icon will not delete

Win XP Home, updated SP2-

Hi,
Stupid 'System Mechanic 6.0', for no apparent reason, offers an
optional desktop Icon called, "incinerator", a read only Icon. I can
access the program without the desktop icon, so what's the sense? .
Anyway It simply cannot be deleted. Can someone offer a solution
please?

I know I can probably do it in Safe Mode, (F8), but for some other
wacky reason, my PC was never able to get into Safe Mode. I press F8
the second I boot my PC but it doesn't take me to Safe Mode. I see a
black page with a white font that offers several options but none of
them is 'Safe Mode'. Maybe this isn't my day!

Thanks very much the great help I've always gotten from everybody,
(except for that one rude guy who hides safely behind his computer and
anonimously insults people. Poor soul!

I seem to remember i had this problem... I took someone's advice and
installed a programme called 'REG SCRUB XP', this did the trick for me.
