How do I get the desktop icon in quick launch?

Create a text file in Notepad as follows:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Save it as Show Desktop.scf then drag it to the Quick launch bar.
Or just click on this link:

Restore/Add Show Desktop to Quick Launch (Line 61)

Also note that you can do this with a keyboard shortcut: the combination of
the Windows key + D or the Windows key + M.

How do I get the desktop icon in quick launch?

Drag it there.

Or right-click in the quick launch area (not right on an icon, but close,
and select open folder and put it in that way... Alternatively, if you make
sure you have "Show hidden files and folders" selected in your folder
options View tab, then open your C: drive, then the "Documents and
Settings" directory, then the directory that is your user name, then the
Application Data" directory, Then Microsoft, "Internet Explorer", and
finally "Quick Launch" - that's the folder. ;)

For example my user name is Andrew, so I go to:

C:\Documents and Settings\andrew\

then to:

Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Exploder\Quick Launch\

Hope that helps..

Cheers

To the right of the ctrl key on the left side of the board and nearest to
you.
Normally the key has the Windows flag symbol but this keyboard also has
the word Start on it.

Hope this helps.

If you have a regular desktop keyboard, made in the last several years, it's
the second key from the left on the bottom row. It has a flag on it, and
sometimes also the word "start."

On a laptop, its location varies, but look for the flag.

unRheal says "Drag it there." But where do you get it--from where do you
drag it? It isn't in a folder anywhere because it's at the top of the tree.
The Microsoft solution of creating an .scf file apparently is the simplest
way. They point out that the desktop icon in the quick launch isn't an
ordinary shortcut. I would have sworn before I saw this thread that there
was a checkbox somewhere for something like "include Show Desktop icon in
quick launch." But apparently I would have been mistaken. BTW, the option
of using the Windows key + D is often a better way of showing the desktop
than using the quick launch icon , because if you don't do something to any
of the files on the desktop, you can press Windows key + D again and restore
all of the windows that were open to their previous positions.

Buck
