Dell computers and Windows Mail ... Help Please

I have two new out of the box Dell Vista computers that are having strange
email problems for which the Dell techs haven't been able to find a solution.
Clicking the send/receive button in either Windows Mail or Office Outlook
2007 results in downloading a maxium of there messages; the message displayed
is "downloading 3 of xx messages" but no other messages are downloaded. A HP
Vista laptop using the same ISP (Comcast.net) and the same account and email
address over the same connection works just fine.

Any ideas??? All help appreciated?

Thanks

There could be a couple of reasons for this problem.
Normally I would suggest there is a stuck email on the server,
but since the HP laptop has no problem, the 'email stuck on
server' theory is ruled out. Do the Dells always download the
same three messages or is it always different (newer) messages?

The Dells probably have a trial version of McAfee or Norton AV
installed. Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee
or Norton security programs. Those will need to be
uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see
