Diane:
I'm having the same problem as the user to whom you previous replied and
I've determined that it isn't a mail server issue, since I'm able to send and
receive read receipts without a problem if I send e-mails using Outlook
Express. However, if I use Outlook XP (the read receipt function for which
used to work just fine, but no longer does) and send e-mails to myself, it
does ask me if I want to send a read receipt back to myself, but even though
I respond "yes," the receipt never arrives. (Again, if I do the same thing
in Outlook Express however, the receipt arrives fine).
I'm using Outlook XP on a Windows XP professional operating system. Any
idea why this feature that used to work fine no longer does? I've even tried
re-installing Office XP, but that hasn't solved the issue. One item of note
is that I temporarily installed the trial version of Outlook 2003, but then
decided not to pay for the upgrade, so I uninstalled it and reverted back to
Office XP. That seems to coincide to the timeframe as to when the read
receipt problem began.
Any assistance you or anyone else could give would be greatly-appreciated.
Thank you!
Ron

it's a feature controlled by mail servers, not outlook. if they have it
disabled, none are returned to you. Also, antispam software may mark them as
spam or reject them.

I used to receive a read and delivery receipt every time I sent a message.
Now I receive a read receipt but never a delivery receipt. Both options
are
checked under tools. Anyone have an answer? Thanks.
