Deletion of emails kept on server

O

Oppie

I have been using the setting to keep messages on the server and to only
delete them when they are deleted from the 'deleted items' folder
(Properties-advanced settings tab). I use this since I must access messages
from several locations. At present, I have a XP Pro (running outlook express
6) and the Vista home basic. Both mail clients are configured the same.

Looks like the XP/OE6 machine will properly delete the messages from the
server when the deleted items box is emptied. Not so with the Vista machine.
The deleted items folder is indeed emptied but those messages are not
removed from the server. This is through Verizon.net if the network makes
any difference?

Has anybody else seen this issue?

Click on Tools, then Accounts, then your email account, then Properties,
then Advanced. If there's no check mark in the box before Leave a
copy of messages on the server, click on this box. If there's no check
mark in the box before Remove from server when deleted from
'Deleted Items', click on this box. Click on Apply, then OK, then
Close.

Yes - That is the way I have Windows Mail set up already.
** The issue is that when I empty the deleted items folder using the Right
Click on Folder and choosing "Empty 'deleted items' folder" the messages are
NOT removed from the server.

Perhaps if I do a Cntrl A (select all messages) on the deleted Items folder
and THEN press the delete key, it may work... I have not tried it this way
yet. That option just occurred to me. I will try it tonight at home.

Thanks - Oppie (aka R. Oppenheimer, professional engineer)
