I have just got Vista on my new computer and when i go into windows explorer,
i can't delete files as it says i need permission to do this, and i'm the

What can i do to correct this?

I have the exact same problem.
Is someone capable of helping?
If there isn't gonna be a reply within... say 4 hours I'm installing xp. I'm
getting rather edgy about Vista.

Turn UAC off (in CONTROL PANEL and USER ACCOUNTS), reboot and delete the
file. Turn UAC on and reboot and you are back in heaven.

Don't give up on Vista that quick!

Ummmm, what file are you trying to delete? Is it "In use" or one of the
Temp files that need to be there?

Are there any right click options to "Run as Administrator?

I'm getting out of my depth. If it was XP, I would suggest going into Safe
Mode and deleting it.

Right click the folder name the files are stored in.........select
the SECURITY tab, Click EDIT under the user/group window, Select the
user you want to edit control to then select the options you want
to either allow or deny access then select OK and now try to delete
the files you want.

Remember it's good practice to make one change at a time, test then
reset until you find the option that works best for you. I've
learned the hard way over the years by going in and changing 20
settings at once and not remembering what the hell I did LOL
