deleting duplicate messages

I have a wee (really big!) problem. I won't explain how I got in this mess
(complicated) but I have run out of ideas on how to fix it.

I have about 70,000 messages in my inbox of which 60% of them are
duplicates. I need an automated method to delete those duplicates. I have
tried every variation of "import/export" you can imagine ("do not import
duplicates" does not work, imports them all anyway). I have tried to cut and
paste to a desk top folder but XP just creates sequential numbers for each
duplicate. Thought I might use Access but too much message info is lost like
attachments and photos during the export.

Anyone have any ideas? Is there a way to run a delete query against the
inbox? Something? Anything? HELP!
