Deleted Messages Keep Returning

I have a user who has an exchange server mailbox. When at
her computer, she logs into Outlook and deletes several
messages (sends them to the deleted items folder). She
then loggs off of her machine. When she logs back in
again and checks her mail, her deleted messages (some
months old) are back on her inbox. Anybody know why this
happens?

Does she sync to an offline file?
Does she use a PST file for delivery instead of the Exchange mailbox?
