deleted items not going into recycle bin - tried various solutions from google still not working

Typcially I map our users My Documetns folder to a folder on our file
server.

what I am noticing on this one user is that when she deletes something from
her My Documents it does NOT go to the recycle bin.
but if she deletes something from her desktop it DOES go to the recyle bin.

I tried various fixes I got from google but nothing seems to work.

I tried deleting something, then right-clicking the recycle bin, confirming
delete, then rebooting. no change.

if I type "cd \recycled" it says "system cannot find path specified"

if I type "%systemdrive%\Recycler" it shows empty folder

McaFee is NOT installed.

there is no virtual drive, just that the My Documents folder is mapped to
her private folder on our windows 2000 file server

any help would be appreciated.

Hi

You haven't got 'Do not move files to the Recycle Bin. Remove files
immediately when deleted' enabled have you?

I think you're on the right track with the registry. Try locating the key
changes from a known good machine by doing a registry compare from before and
after a successful deletion. Then locate that key(s) on the messed up system
to see if there's a difference.

Also, try the same thing while enabling/disabling sending stuff to the
Recycle Bin and compare those registry entries.
