Deleted items folder won't empty

Jacki

I cannot delete the emails from my deleted items folder. I get tons of
email every day and now have almost 8000. Is there a way to do delete them
without switching to Windows Live?

Hi Jacki,
Click on any folder other than the deleted items folder. Then right click
on the deleted items folder and select the 'empty deleted items folder' option
Hope this helps

I tried this It does not work. Still cannot empty deleted items.
Download and install this fix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or
the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first. Certain antivirus
programs, such as most of those from Norton or McAfee, or a
recent one from Trend, tend to cause such problems, so if you have
such a program, remember where to find the fix - you are likely to
need it again.

Brink,

My deleted items folder shows that there are 199 items to be deleted. When
I ask that it delete the folder, it comes back with an error message,
"unknown error has occurred". When look at the contents of the deleted items
folder, my preview of each mail items says it is unable to view it; as if it
is gone, but it still shows as content in my deleted items folder. I've
tried the patch, I've tried dragging them to another folder, I've tried
selecting another folder then going to the deleted items folder and right
clicking to delete contents, but know of these things work. What I have
noticed is that any email I get now and delete, will delete. It's just the
199 stuck ones that won't.

This fix worked for me(Thank you have been working on this for months) too
but now when I delete most emails they do not show up in my deleted items,
how can I correct this as sometimes I have to go back and retrieve a email.
Where have they gone? Debbie L --Roscommon Mi.

i had the same "would not delete problem" so went through the 334 stored
entries deleting them one by one, trying "empty" at 150, 100, 50 etc,
still would not delete totally. but although i had 60 odd left the
counter only said 3 left. these appeared to be unopened mail sent
straight to delete. i deleted these 3 to make the counter zero and tried
the "empty" again, it worked the rest are gone and the empty function
has returned. dont know why as i am not very clever with these things,
but worth a try if you are in the same boat!!!!

Try moving all the messages into your junk folder and then emptying that. Not
a fix but worked for me.
