Everytime that I turn on my computer, as soon as the operating system
finishes loading (Windows XP Home SP2) and the desktop is up, if I double
click the Internet Explorer icon I get a blank, white IE screen that sets
there for 84 seconds (yes, I've timed it and it is consistent) then there is
HD activity and my home page comes up and I'm on the internet. The same
thing happens if I select the Outlook Express.
In other tests on this behavior, I have powered up the computer and as soon
as the desktop is up I've double clicked on my Atom Time Pro icon which
immediately connects, via the internet, to the clock at Boulder, Colo. and
get the correct time. So the delayed browser/internet connection discribed
above is not due to my Sygate Firewall nor my cable modem box.
Any ideas what causes this?
