Defender Temp Files

I have been happily using Defender for some time and assume that it is
working correctly and updating as it should.

I have noticed that a couple of files relating to Defender have taken up
residence in my Windows/Temp folder and now the number of files seems to be
increasing. At the moment they are as follows: Mpengine.dll MpSigStub.log
WGAErrLog.txt Mpasbase.VDM Mpasdlta.vdm and Mpcmdrun.log.

Should these files be in my Temp folder?
What are they?
Can they be deleted?

I would be grateful for any advice.

I don't recall the .dll file, and can't verify at the moment, but the rest
look normal. The WGA piece is not directly Defender related, but the rest
are. I know of no reason why you can't delete these, and I've done so at
various times on various machines. The two .log files may be of interest if
definition update failures occur.

So--what you are seeing is normal and expected, but you can delete them
without any repercussions, I believe.
