Default window size for new windows

For some reason whenever I right click on a link and choose open in new window, the window size is tall but very very thin. It used to be almost maximised and has only just started opening in this reduced view

How can I change the default window size for new windows? I've tried resizing, then amending some preference or toolbar setting but it doesn't seem to make a difference and now its becoming very annoying having to manually resize the window every time.

1. Close all IE Windows.
2. Open IE (call this window A)
3. Right click a link and open in a new window (call this window B).
4. Resize window B to fill the screen (e.g. use the resize control to make
it fill the window).
5. Close window A.
6. Close window B

This works only if you close window B last (this should be the last IE
window you close). IE then remembers the size of this window.
