Default start directory for windows explorer

In windows explorer (Windows 2000) is there a way to set
the default view to 'details' rather than accepting
the 'large Icons' default setting. I'd rather not have to
set manually the view style for each directory.

Tools, Folder View, Like Current

In Windows Explorer:
Change any settings in one (1) folder to your liking.
Click Tools | Folder Options | View tab
Under "Folder views" click [Like Current Folder]
Click [OK]

All other folder views will now match the one you changed.
