Hi,
I'm using Windows Mail on Vista and generally it work well. The problem I
have is that if I want to email a jpg for instance, if I right click it and
select 'Send To' > 'Mail Recipient', Microsoft Outlook starts which my ISP
does not support. This also occurs when trying to contact web sites which
have the 'Contact Us' type of link.
Can anyone please guide me to getting Windows Mail to pop up instead? I've
searched and searched but I cant find how to do it,
TIA,
Regards,
Alan.

Go to Default Programs, which you can access either from the Start menu
or via the Control Panel, then click the first item: "Set your default programs."
After a few seconds a list of programs comes up.
Click on Windows Mail. If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its
defaults" then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.

That's great, thank you.
I must have looked everywhere but there.
Wood and trees come to mind!
Thanks Again,
Regards,
Alan.

1. Every time Outlook gets an update it will set itself as default again.

2. By not supporting Outlook that just means they won't help with it. You
can set it up with the same information you use in Windows Mail. While I
refuse to use Outlook, it is more stable.

I'm not too worried about that now I know how to change it back, thank you
for that,

'By not supporting Outlook that just means they won't help with it.'

I've only had this machine with Vista installed since March this year, apart
from the problem that you've just resolved for me I've had no trouble at
all. The last machine that I used with XP and Outlook Express also worked
fine since 2001
NTL, now Virgin Media in the UK are adamant that Outlook cannot work with
their ISP. Personally I think as you apparently do, that's nonsense, but
there we are.
I don't really want to use Outlook either. I know you can use Macros etc
with it. I've attended a few tedious tutorials at work on the subject. All I
really want from a mail service is to do just that, communicate messages and
send various files to people I know.
I'm curious however as to why you refuse to use it?
Regards,
Alan.

Because it's got all sorts of stuff I have no use for. Calendar, Task List,
etc. It's a big bloated mess.
