Default paper size (user profile)

Hi,

I'm in Canada and it appears that if I set Regional Settings to Canada
the default paper size for new printers is A4. Since everyone I know
in canada uses Letter even if we are a metric country, I want to
change the default *without* changing my country to US.

Can someone points me to the registry key for this. I've googled for
that and I see alot of people suggesting changing country. I would
like to avoid that since I want to keep the rest of my regional
settings to metric.

Thanks in advance,

you should be able to do that in advanced printer settings ...not in the
user profile

I know I can do that in the advanced settings. But there's 500
computer on my LAN, and the problem arise when people install printer
from a server. THe advanced settings are pushed right from the
server. But the printer settings in the General tabs seems to be by
profile. When whenever someone install a printer the default paper is
set to A4.

Hope I'm a little clearer...

I know of no way to change the default except on a per-printer basis. Go to
Printers folder, right-click the printer > Properties. Change the default
there and it should stick for most applications you print from.

Again, I know of no way to change the default. Simply has to be another step
while installing the printer(s).

What happens if the default setting on the printer itself is set to US
Letter paper and US letter paper is actually in the printer tray? This
might over-ride the software default setting for A4 paper.

No the printer always ask for A4 paper in the manual tray, even if I
set it to letter(physicaly).

This may be a firmware issue. Contact the maker of the printer for a
solution.
