Can anyone tell me what the lastest def should be? The last one I received
was dated 9-5-08.

1.43.128.0 was the last one pushed out by MS.
They seemed to have past over the usual Tuesday update because of Patch
Tuesday (that often happens).

There will probably be an updated pushed Today.

?:)

Are you trying to determine if updates are broken, or are you trying to be
certain you have the latest?

If the latter, I'd get the update manually from the security portal:

http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal

If the former, go to Windows Update or Microsoft Update and do an express
scan and see whether new definitions are offered.

The definitions at the security portal are always the latest, and may be
newer than what has been pushed out.
However, they are also packaged in a way that makes for a large
download--easy for broadband, harder for dial-up.
