Since you didn't mention any thing I will take you have Outlook account that
trying to get E-mails from the server and can't pull the data from Database
and causing this error ad the service didn't start yet or at all:
Open a Run Command and type in:
services.msc click [OK] and on the services window scroll down to Network
DDE and start it manual the same with the Network DDE DSDM also start Manual
( if manual didn't help then make Automatically).

Network DDE

Service Name: NetDDE

Executable Name: netdde.exe

Log On As: LocalSystem

Description: Provides network transport and security for DDE (dynamic data
exchange) by applications running on the same computer or on different
computers. You can create Network DDE "shares" programmatically or by using
DDEshare.exe on your computer, and make them visible to other applications
and computers. Traditionally, the user creating the share will create and run
a server process to handle incoming requests from client processes and/or
applications (running on the same computer or remotely); once connected,
these processes can exchange any kind of data over a secure network transport.

This service is disabled by default on Windows. If the service is disabled,
any application that depends on NetDDE will time out when it tries to start
the service. If an application on a remote computer is trying to start NetDDE
on a different computer, it will appear as if that remote computer is not
found on the network. If this service is configured as Manual, it is only
started when invoked by an application that uses NetDDE, such as Clipbrd.exe
or DDEshare.exe. In addition, applications running on remote computers can
send messages to other computers that will invoke the NetDDE service.

Available on: Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional; Windows Server 2003,

Hi Margie,
Try to be sure all clean from malwares and Viruses by running a scan on line
or by your Anti-Virus application in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode:
1- Scan your computer with online scanner from here:
http://www.sophos.com
http://www.trendmicro.com
And also for malwares from here Update the Definitions for both and run a
scan:
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
http://www.safer-networking.org ; for Spybot S&D

*Then Open a run command and type in:
regedit click [OK] and on the Registry Editor locate these Keys and see
if the settings are there and correct:
[-] HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetDDE =

Name Type Data

[ab](Default) REG_SZ (value not set)
[ab]DependOnService REG_MULTI_SZ NetDDESDM
[ab]Description REG_SZ Provides network transport..etc..
[ab]DisplayName REG_SZ Network DDE
[ON]ErrorControl REG_DWORD 0x00000001 (1)
[ab]Group REG_SZ NetDDEGroup
[ab]ImagePath REG_EXPAND_SZ %SystemRoot%\system32\netdde.exe
[ab]ObjectName REG_SZ LocalSystem

If the Above didn't help then Try to Run them Automatically by going to
services and start them Auto instead of Manual.

If still no joy try to run this command :
sfc /scannow click [OK] and wait for it and get your XP CD handy you may
be asked/prompted by the Operating system to insert the CD to repair any
corrupt or damaged files/folders found on your system.
