The operation failed because:
The Directory Service failed to create the server object
for CN=NTDS Settings, CN=MATRIX2,CN=Servers,CN=Default-
First-Site-Name,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=neo,DC=com
on server MATRIX13. Please ensure the network credentials

Check to see if your machine has a disjointed namespace. Right-click the
My Computer icon, choose Properties and click on Network Identification.
The computer name should be matrix2.neo.com and the domain name should be
neo.com - if these do not match then you need to correct that problem
before it will work.

Use the following article to ensure the first DC is working properly:

Use the following article for steps on promoting and demoting DCs:

i also read an article from the knowledge base-257623-
that tells of disjointed namespace. this said to ensure
that just the name of the computer was listed in the
registry, as it turned out the name was listed but with
addidtional characters in the registry when you remove
these active directory worked. the names showed
correctly in the network id page.

Hi Matt,

Based on your last post, you were able to resolve the issue by fixing the
disjointed name space.

Is that correct?
