Hi,

I have removed all permissions from "Default Configuration Permissions" of
"Default Security" tab.
When I tried to assign again, it is saying "You have been denied access to
some resource".
I THINK IT IS RELATED TO REGISTRY PERMISSIONS.
Also I am not able to access IIS web server.
Due to that some other application also not responding properly.

Kindly Guide me in restoring the default permissions for "Default
Configuraton Permissions"

Yes. That dialog (in W2K anyway) clearly displays that this is
"Registry Key Permissions" and
"Registry key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT"
(aka HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ )

Restore from last Full Registry Backup?
Probably you have removed all ACEs from HKCR by doing what you did
and consequently affected nearly all keys under that via
inheritance. That is not an easy thing to recover from.
Hopefully you can simply replace the SOFTWARE hive safety backup
you made in advance of editing. This will "restore" the existing
state prior to your editing.
Also I am not able to access IIS web server.

Without reverting to a backup, it will be impossible in many cases
to "restore". You can attempt to reset and propagate or reset and
observe if inheritance is still functioning...
One local reference would be the ACEs listed in the "as installed"
copy of SOFTWARE hive file at %systemroot%\repair\
And assuming you can still access the "top" key at this time under
an Administrators group account. *Administrators _should_ still
have ownership I believe.

You have not indicated the Windows version.

See also Dave's posted method. Although this is rather a more
shotgun approach. The "best" solution is to restore the SOFTWARE
hive file from a known good recent backup, IMO.

I found the repair folder with software files. Do you want me to copy it
some other place. Kindly suggest me.

Once I done with the thing what you suggested, I halso rebooted the system.

Have you made a recent Full Registry Backup (not an "export")?
Using ERUNT, ntbackup.exe or other method such that you actually
_have_ a recent and usable copy of the SOFTWARE hive file. If so,
we can probably help. Look also in %systemroot%\repair\RegBack\
(which may be empty)

My reference to the "as installed" copy was only suggested as a
means to find the original ACLs for your system. And only as a
reference for a possible manual repair with a less than guaranteed
prospect of success. And would entail "loading" that file for
examination. No insult, but I imagine this approach is beyond your
skill level at this time.

And you still have not indicated what OS and SP level you run. If
we knew that it might help.

In a case such as this
Restore from recent hive file backup
(possibly "System Restore" if XP (which I do not use))
Restore partition from recent image backup
Apply the default security template for the system is an option
(which apparently failed for unknown reasons)
Re-install or "repair install" the OS and SPs + security fixes
would be the most "typical" remediations.
