DCOM Error on Windows XP

Jeff

Hi All,

I'm receiving the following in Event Viewer from. Searching the
registry revealed {D1290A7E-156A-11D4-8356-00105A6BC646} is 'Proxy Host
Console'. I ran dcomcnfg, and found only one similar object
(Proxy.HostService). The APPID did not match.

How can I search the mmc 'Component Services' snapin to locate the
object?

Next, what should be changed. I assuming Properties | Security Tab ->
Local Activation and Permission. I referenced Q323287, 'HOW TO: Set
Permissions for Distributed COM Programs in Windows 2000'
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;323287). I'm
thinking allow 'Authenticated Users' permission to 'Local Launch' and
'Local Activation'.

Thanks,
Jeff

Error, DCOM, Event ID 10016

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local
Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{D1290A7E-156A-11D4-8356-00105A6BC646}
to the user DOMAIN\USER SID
(S-1-5-21-1292428093-1606980848-1060284298-7116). This security
permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative
tool.
