date won't change after replacing cmos battery

I took my cmos battery out to see what kind it was.
When I put it back in, everything stayed the same except the date. Now the
date will not change automatically from day to day. I have to change it
manually. Anyone know how to fix this?

How long did you remove the battery from its place? Usually you'll have to
leave out the battery for at least 5 mins to clear the cached info on the
BIOS. Depending on your BIOS make/model. Or might be that you'll need to
reflash you BIOS to its newest firmware version.

GLuck!

Check that the battery is seated properly, this is a simptom of a flat
battery.

That sounds like your battery is run down, not working, and needs to be
replaced. However if it was working before you took it out, in this case it
may just be that you didn't reinstall it properly, and it's not working
because it's not making proper contact.
