How long should a CMOS battery last for?
Current Novatech PC is run daily but in the last few days the clock has changed back to 2001?
Time for a new battery i think?

It don't matter if your PC is on or off, the battery is on all the time ... should last 3-5 years, 3 is good. :)

Oh, and the date now showing is only the BIOS date, not when the PC was made, well maybe not.

Hubby's PC (Novatech) is now over 6 yrs old and it contains the original CMOS, which has never needed changing. The PC runs 24/7. It was the same with my old Vista rig (PCSpecialist) which also ran 24/7. But in the past, I have had laptop CMOS batteries fail.
