DATE NAVIGATOR - Past appointment view limits

It is my understanding that the Outlook 2003 Date Navigator is set to show
bolded dates 2 months into the past and 10 months into the future from the
current date

I want to use my Outlook Date Navigator in a way that shows me a 12 month
past from the current date.

There must be a registry entry that would allow me to edit the Outlook Date
Navigator to display appointments that are more than 2 months old?

Will you please explain or at least point me to the key-string entries. I
can then play with it on my own and be responsible for the all results.

Thank you....... :)

my apologies, I thought this post was a better way to express the issue but I
know of no way to edit a post once it has been submitted.

As fate would have it, I was hoping you might be the one to answer my
question. I searched you website for an answer but did not find one. I did
find information you do have up that tells a user of Outlook 2003 how to make
the GUI look more like Outlook 2000. One of your tips required editing a
registry entry. Since you have been around the Registry relative to Outlook I
thought the odds that you might know where the greatest chance of getting an
answer. I hate to dive in there (to the registry that is) but if I must, then
I while.
Onward, thru the Fog...

thank you

There "must" be? What makes you think that?

Thanks for the compliment but as far as I know this behavior is not exposed
in the registry nor can it be modified in any other way.

That is in fact an existential question which I am sure you would understand
if you looked at it. I can respond concretely:
After much searching I have not found the ideal fix I wanted. I did find two
rather simple work-arounds that will get me what I need however. In this
case, that is enough.
1.) If I start auto-archiving my Calendar folder every 6 months, it will
contain a 6 month view which will include Data Navigators. It appears because
Outlook already provides a 2 month view of the past at present, the archive
starts where the present ends. Simply stated, 2 archive files a year will
give me a complete view of my appointments, with whom, where, what time, and
what for. And the monthly Date Navigator, with the appointments bolded, makes
scanning the file very easy.
2.) From any view in Calendar one can go to the Navigation pane\Current
View\By Category and see appointments (with holidays included unfortunately)
with appointee, date, start and end time, and any additional info you place
on the appointment subject line when you created or updated the appointment.
I do not know the length of the look back period. Right now I can look back
from today thru and to November 1, 2007.

If I made better use of Categories when I create an appointment I would also
be better served to ferret out the appointments from the holidays. I have not
tried any other operations on the data but I would venture a guess that there
are some further ways to filter the view.

thank you for your help as well as the other MVP Roadie. The Discussion
groups are an invaluable resource. I will try to remember that the next time
I run into a MS problem. :)
