Wasn't sure which newsgroup to post in but I'm starting here.
Trying to reinstall MS Excel but I suspect that my MS Office 2000 Pro disk has problems or, at the very least, the data1.msi file is corrupted. Error message appears saying "Installation package could not be opened. Please contact admistrator to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer Package.
For some reason, I was able to get past this error message earlier today and the install stopped at file data1.msi, however, my cd-rom drive started wigging out and I could get no further. I did try the disk in another computer but had the same problem.
I've had quite a few problems lately with the Office setup program popping up at odd times, prompting me to install Office. Is there somewhere I can get another copy of the data1.msi file to try to reinstall Exel?
OS is XP home.
