Data File check AND messages are not deleted

We recently installed Outlook Enterprise 2007 on our computer (running
Vista). I have two issues with Outlook:

1. When I open my account, I get a balloon message saying that a data file
had not closed properly the last time I closed outlook, and it has to run a
check. It will say it does so successfully, but the message appears again
and again.

2. My account is set up to automatically empty the deleted items folder
upon closing, and it asks for confirmation to do so, but when I reopen
Outlook, recent messages will be in the Inbox again, and the deleted items
folder will be full....nothing was deleted.

Has anyone had these problems and found a solution?

I have the same problem on Vista/Outlook 2007 and was looking here for an
answer. Mine says that message 90% of the time. The other 10% i get a message
that says outlook did not close properly and it takes 5 minutes before it
opens up.

This is very tiring. I have run the scanpst tools.

I heard somewhere that the adobe toolbar add-in may be the culprit. I have a
number of add-ins including salesforce.com.

I also had this problem with XP/2003 but not as often.
