Data Base Security

I have created my own data-base for my business and wish
to copy it on to cd as a back-up. I have no problem in
copying etc. but when I try to open the new cd it comes
up as read only! I have deleted the read only box in
properties and the system seems to accept the command but
when I go through the whole process of copying again the
new cd still comes up as 'read-only'! What am I not doing
to make my copy readable? Help urgently needed please! I
am the only person who has access to my computer.

Files copied to CD *ROM* are always Read-Only. If you are using the CD as a backup
then you can change the RO flag after you have copied it back to your hard drive.

To add to what Rick stated:
CD-ROM's are used for permanent storage and designed to perform write and
re-write actions; unless you have a CD-RW drive and disc. CD-RW's are ideal
for backing up information again and again. But keep in mind, that it is
better to have multiple back-ups instead of writing over your only back-up.
CD-ROM and CD-RW writers are reliable but on occasion they or the disc(s)
will not malfunction causing your back-up to be nothing more than a coaster
of mini Frisbee.

I think the world record for the mini Frisbee toss is 40 ft into a trash
can! :)
