Hello
In internet options, settings, view objects there is a damaged activex this is
what it looks like- codecs/i386/fhg.CAB.When I tried to dowload from any
secure site I received the message your current settings prohibit you from
running activex on this page etc.I checked the security settings several
times to be sure that they were correct, they are at the default level,I
cannot download from windows update or log into any secure sites.I received
one other message which said setup could not verify the integrity of the
update ,please make sure the cryptographic service is running,I looked there
and it is running.Would this be caused by the damaged activex and how can it
be fixed if I cannot use update,I downloaded the codecs/i386/fhg.CAB from
microsoft but was not sure what to do after it was extracted,Itried to repair
the activex by clicking on properties and then repair but it won't be
repaired. the computer is running XP Home.Thank you

Assuming you trust the websites try adding them to your trusted Web Content
Zone and set security for the trusted Web Content Zone to default. See the
links below on how to troubleshoot problems with accessing secure websites
and first make sure your computer day/date/time/month/year/timezone is
correct because if it is off more then 24 hours you can not access secure
websites. --- Steve
