Customizing Start Menu

Guest

Hello,

There are 2 things I would like to change to my Start Menu:

1. disable the Search Box below. Anyone an idea how to do this?
2. I am not using the recently used programs tab (it's empty) in the start
menu so I'd prefer to see All Programs instead of this empty tab - now, of
course I always have to click on 'All Programs' - where can I change this so
I directly get all my start menu programs without having to click?

Kind regards,

Nico

Try going to properties, and clicking the box that says "Classic Start
menu". This will do what you want. You can then further customize by
clicking on the "Customize" button and picking the choices you want.

Just like Win2K and XP. :)

You do not say whether you have chosen the Start Menu or Classic
Start Menu. The default is Start Menu.

Right click on Start button, select Properties, Start Menu,
Customise. For Documents select "Don't display" and uncheck the box
before Search.

Hope this helps.

Hello Jay,

That's just what I don't want to do - I'd like to keep the Vista Start Menu
but without the Recently opened Programs pane.

Unchecking and remembering to click on Apply before OK does enable
you to remove Search. However, I cannot figure out how to remove
Start Search.

Yep,

It is the Start Search I want to remove - I already checked the registry but
couldn't find a corresponding key.
