Hi All,

I have a custom shell created by vb6, and I am trying to call the
explorer.exe by clicking a button. The windows explorer will showed, but I
can't get the taskbar show on top of my custom shell(vb6 application). Does
anyone know how to get the taskbar display on a custom shell?

Thanks in advance.

Joseph.

If you're going to have explorer.exe active - why not just have it be your
shell and have your app auto-start?

To answer your question though, it really should be changed (imho) to read:
How can I prevent having my custom shell overwrite the explorer.exe taskbar?
Without know specifics of your app, it's hard to say. In general, don't use
that portion of the screen. If your "window" takes up the whole screen, the
taskbar is going to be behind the "active window". Make your window leave
room at the bottom of the screen so "whatever" is down there can show up.

Thanks for your reply Gordon. I tried your suggestion, but the taskbar does
not display. The purpose what I do this is because I want the user to only
use my custom shell, and the taskbar is like a tools in my custom shell for
authority person to use for changing windows setting. Do I miss some
component in my XPE image? Or, is there any register key that I need to
change to have the taskbar display?

I tried to use the same XPE image with the explorer shell, and it works
fine. Once I switch the image with custom shell, the explorer's taskbar will
never display.

Thanks.
