cursor jumps randomly while typing

this is a new toshiba laptop running windows xp home. in
any application i'm in, (could be wordperfect, word, msn
messenger, or even this) my cursor jumps - at random
times - while i am typing, to some position on the page
other than to the next space. any ideas?

I had this as well with my Sony..........had to make sure I didn't rub my
thumbs along the scratchpad while tying.......not sure if yours is related
to this.
