cursor jumping

My cursor jumps uncontrollably while typing, - no error
in typing presumed -
I have a Compaq Presario 705 laptop. It is annoying when
the cursor jumps uncontrollably while typing in Word, or
a new message in Outlook Express, - and then requires
time consuming correction of wrongly inserted text.

I am using Word 2000 and Outlook Express 6.

Is there anything I can do?

This kind of problem is commonly caused by accidentally brushing the
touchpad with your hands while typing. If you have a mouse and can disable
the touchpad, try doing so and see if that helps.

My cursor also jumps around. I'm using voice commands in Word 2002. I always
turn my mic off when I'm not issuing a command; however, upon turning the mic
on (just before saying a command) the cursor jumps and my command ends up in
the wrong place! Very, very annoying!

Can you help?

I have the same problem. My cursor jumps as follows: I'm using voice commands
(in speech recognition mode in Word 2002). I keep the mic off until I speak a
command. Often, just after turning the mic on but just before saying the
command, the cursor jumps, so that the command is executed in the wrong
place. Very annoying!
