cursor and me

the cursor moves across the screen by itself and I notice if I pick the
mouse up then lightly dump it onto the mouse pad the cursor will begin
moving across the screen again .
This may not have anything to do with the cursor but I can not sign out of
this newsgroup .
Who would want to anyway ?

scan extensively with programs other than Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta 1 and
free Avast Antivirus because I already have those 2 programs and I use them ?

I found that happening to my optical mouse and someone here advised to
change the mousepad to a light colored one. I was using a black pad and it
seems that the mouse works harder on the dark pad. I switched to a light
colored pad and the mouse stopped moving around the screen uncontrollably

I've also seen this happen with dirty laptop pads or "nipple" mice. (I'm not
so sure what to call the ones with the nub thing sticking out of them
really.) Slowing the mouse down a wisker and disabling the enhanced
precision has solved the desktop mice that did that. Out of curiousity does
it happen to always go in one direction? Up slightly and headed left
perhaps? I'm just curious because of the half dozen times or so this has
cropped up where I was able to witness the case of the nomadic rodent it was
all but one time headed that direction. Still on laptop, located here, does
so but only after it's been on a while so it makes me wonder if it's heat in
that particular case.

why.....why.....yes it does move slightly up and to the left , always .
It's a ATech( aka manufacturer) Swop-25 mouse , optical , 3 button . It's
got the lens in the middle and the light bulb behind it facing forward .

yes could be heat , I use it almost all day every day . Come to think of it
it's only begun after many hours of use on a deep blue mouse pad , and no
better on a striped dull blue and dull white mouse pad .

Did you untick the enhanced option in the mouse properties? That *might*
help? I have no idea why. <g> Absolutely no idea at all.

There is no enhanced feature for the mouse I use , but I notice when I
use Adobe to read pdf documents the Windows default cursor fights a red
scroll looking vertical bar with a vertical line each side of it and arrows
pointing to it from the middle of each side .
And at that point the scrolling in the document stops and if I keep the
mouse right click engaged the scrolling will resume then stop and so on .
Actually I notice I often don't click it in the right place too so it
doesn't work properly then .

Yes, yes there should be??? If not then something is erronious and you can
re-install your mouse software. But start > run > "control mouse" (without
the quotes) > enter > and then tick the pointer options tab. It's something
like enhance pointer precision? Untick it and still then I don't actually
KNOW the problem will go away - it's just what has worked a few times. Also
slowing the mouse down has worked as well.

The nearest setting to enhanced that was checked was the pointer shadow , I
already slowed the pointer as much as I didn't want to . I disabled the
pointer shadow so it's wait and see . And I notice I didn't even have my hand
over the mouse properly so with a bit of effort , and it is taking quite a
lot , I will get me hand over the whole mouse to use it properly . I did
notice too the mouse seemed unbalanced and I was probably rolling it a wee
bit blah blah blah.......
thankyou
