CTRL-ALT-DEL--Tabs gone! (huh?)

Strange problem. When I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL, the window pops
open and the tasks are there. So are the "End
Task", "Switch To", and "New Task" buttons. They do work
and I can shut down programs if necessary.

However, that's all there is! I can tab over to see what
processes are running. Even worse, I can't even close the
window--there's not an "X" in the upper right hand corner
or an option to minimize/maximize. All I've been able to
do is hit CTRL-ALT-DEL several times in a row so that it
opens enough task managers that they are condensed in the
task bar and then I can close the group as a whole.

I have no idea what I might have done. I know a little
about computers but I certainly haven't been messing with
any settings related to the taskbar. Any help?

Task Manager Menu Bar and Tabs Are Not Visible in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314227

I had tried playing with Task Manager to deliberately lose the menus and
tabs but couldn't remember how to do it. Had to go look in the KB to
find how to undo it (so I could remember how to do it).
