CTMBHA.DLL error?

Guest

Have a new DELL XPS 400 using XP
On Boot I get an error message: CTMBHA.dll initialization routine failed.
I don't even know if this is an XP file or an application file or even if
this is important.
Any help will be appreciated.

CTMBHA.dll is not an XP file.

Here's what I found with Google...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run:
[MBMon] Rundll32 CTMBHA.DLL,MBMon

Locate CTMBHA.dll on your machine.

HOW TO: Search For Hidden Or System Files In Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;302347

When/if found. The folder it's in may be a clue.

Right click CTMBHA.dll | Properties | Version tab

There should be a description on both General and Version tabs.

This info is part of the file and not all files have real good info.
Especially if it is spyware or a virus. Or whoever put it together was lazy
or secretive.

Version tab.

Click a category on the left to display the information on the right.

Other version information
Item Name:
Company
File Version
Internal Name
Language
Original File Name
Product Name
Product Version

Sometimes, if someone was really industrious, there is info under the
Summary tab also.

Hope this helps. Let us know.

Thanks. This is what I found.
C:\Program Files\Creative\SBAudigy\Program\win2k_xp

I don't know what Creative\SBAudigy is.
Will search further and post results.

Alray,

SBAudigy is a sound card and the related software from Creative.

Creative is the manufacturer.

Did you right click CTMBHA.dll, select Properties and look at everything?

I can find references to the following folders with Google searches...
C:\Program Files\Creative\SBAudigy\Program

Once the win2k_xp is added I find nothing.
C:\Program Files\Creative\SBAudigy\Program\win2k_xp

I searched @ http://us.creative.com/support/ for CTMBHA.dll.

Sorry, your search yielded no matching results. CTMBHA.dll

Either phone or E-mail Creative and ask them about CTMBHA.dll

CTMBHA.DLL *may* be part of Creative Media Source, I am not 100% sure.

Sound Blaster Audigy 4

This sound card comes with:

If it were me and I didn't use any of the above Creative Media Source stuff,
I would uninstall it.

Sorry that it has taken this long to bet back to you. I have been gone a lot.
Thanks for your info.
I contacted Creative email support. They decline to give me any infromation
- said it is Dell's responsibility.
Contacted Dell both Phone and Live Chat. To be polite they don't have a clue.
I hope to have time to get back on this problem now.

I also have a problem with a Dell DataSafe (raid 1) Disk Drive that uses
Norton Ghost 10.0 to do backups. The primary drive has two basic partitions
C & D.
I have been trying to find out what file system D:\ should have.
You would think that this is common knowledge - Not So!
Once again the Dell Techs are not much help.

I think that a boycott of Dell and Creative products is in order. I
have the same problem and am getting completely blown off by them. I
just purchased my first PC since 1991. I've been building everything
for my family since then. I finally decided to buy one; what a
mistake.

if anyone finds a solution to the CTMBHA.DLL problem, please let me
know.

I had this error message occur this morning. I searched google and
found this thread (very helpful, thank you), when I found out it was a
soundblaster file, I knew what to do. I just went into msconfig last
night, then the services tab, hid all microsoft programs and shut off
everything else. Then , this morning I got the error message. I just
went back into msconfig, services and put a check in the box next to
the 2 programs that are soundblasters. No more error message.
thanks!
