Is it possible that when ctfmon is enabled in startup in msconfig that
it can crash a computer? I notice that when it is enabled- that my
computer may crash. Each time I try to disenable ctfmon, it is
reenabled in startup.

Comments?

What are your anti-virus and spyware arrangements? Malware is a
possibility but there could be other explanations.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

CTFMON start up entry belongs to Microsoft Office Suite.CTFmon shouldnot
cause any issue. If its causes your system to hang.I believe repairing the
Office installation with office installation would solve the problem

The Uninterruptible Power Supply service terminated with the following
error:
The UPS service is not configured correctly.
Check your settings in Start, Control Panel, Power Options, UPS.

What manufacturer and model is your unit?

The Acronis Scheduler2 Service service failed to start due to the
following error:
The system cannot find the path specified.

Use Autoruns to disable and later to remove this start up item.

A safer way than msconfig to remove unwanted start up items is to use
Autoruns.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/Autoruns.mspx

With Autoruns you can uncheck an item, which disables it from starting,
or you can can right click an item and then delete it. If you uncheck
you can recheck to re-enable the item. It is a much safer approach than
editing the Registry. Another useful feature of the programme is that
you can right click an item and select Search Online to get information
about the item selected.
The Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework service
terminated with the following error:
A device attached to the system is not functioning.

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties,
Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

I am not sure you have found the error report relating to ctfmon!

Gerry,
I have a Dell Dimension 4700. In the device manager, there are no
question marks. However, in the UPS, nothing is specified.

I also downloaded autoruns. How do I use it to delete startup items?

Uninterruptible Power Supply. Do you have an Uninterruptible Power
Supply? What manufacturer and model is your unit?

You have manually work through the list provided by Autoruns to find the
start up item you require. The list is more complete than that provided
by Msconfig. To disable you uncheck the box before the item. You recheck
the box to restore. To delete the item place the cursor on theitem and
select Entry from the Menu bar and Delete from the drop down list. If
you delete you can not use the tool to reverse deletion, which is why I
recommend disable so that you can be certain you are making the right
decision before it becomes irrevocable.
