crytographic error

I am trying to rid the computer of the blaster virus. I
have downloaded the virus fix and the patch from
microsoft. however, i am unable to install the patch
from microsoft because i receive an error that states
setup could not verify the integrity of the file
update.inf make sure the crytographic service is running
on this computer. any help?

I am trying to rid the computer of the blaster virus. I

update.inf make sure the crytographic service is running
on this computer.

First make sure the firewall is active, to stop any re-infection while
you are getting the patch (that thing can infect you within a minute of
going on-line). Then Rename the folder windows\system32\catroot2 and
reboot. That will generate a new, clean folder, and you can then delete
the renamed one.

Then get - only - Q817287 and install it, which should now be OK. It
is the cure for the problem: you should then be able to carry on with
other updates, and the problem will not recur
