I have been trying to install two of the critical updates
for windows XP for the last few months. They are
Security Update For WIndows XP (KB824146) and Update
Rollup 1 For Microsoft Windows XP (KB826939). However,
after I restart the computer I receive an error message
that states "The procedure entry point ???? could not be
located in the dynamic link library rpcrt4.dll." I
searched online and found a way to fix this problem using
the Windows XP Recovery Console and the Windows XP CD-
ROM, but it installs the original rpcrt4.dll file and
when I go back to Windows Update, the same two critical
updates are still there. It's as if I never installed
them. I've done this at least a half dozen times, but
always receive the same error. If you have any
information on how to fix this problem, I would greatly
appreciate it.
Thank you.
