creating extensions in Vista

I used to be able to open EZM attachments and now that i have Vista I can't.
The extension is not listed in the list of extensions, I have gone to the
group area and have unhidden all the extensions and it doesn't show up. In
XP you were able to create addtional extensions. I haven't found a way of
creating a new extension only associate from the list that was already
generated. Any suggestions?

An extension is just the part of a file name starting with the last period,
so
it's easy to create.

To associate it with a program, save such a file, then right click on it,
click
on Properties, and choose the program you want.

Not in Vista, it is done programmatically through the API. Anything prior to
Vista was easy to do, but because the way the Registry is structured for
different users and UAC it cannot be done.

Right click the file.
Choose open with.
Choose ''Choose Default Program".

Works here in Vista.
