Creating a bootable cd-rom

D

don

I do not have an a: floppy drive on my windows xp
professional. I would like to know the procedures to
follow to create a bootable cd-rom. Apparently, I need a
bootable disk to create an emergency virus check in case
I can't get to the operating system if it becomes
infected. Appreciate the assistance.

If you are NTFS, forget about it. If you boot DOS then it won't see the partition anyway.

Otherwise buy a floppy drive (USB or standard) as they are not expensive.

Okay, Dave, thanks. I didn't think about dos not reading
NTFS. If I get a usb floppy, will win xp allow me to
create a bootable drive that will see the NTFS
partition? Thanks again............Don

I have never formatted a Floppy to NTFS nor tried. I did try one software package, NTFSDOS,
to create a bootable disk to read NTFS partitions but it would not work with the McAfee
Command Line Scanner.

No, you still cannot see NTFS partition.
But you can create Emergency Disks with scan engine on.
Some day you can use antivirus disks to start the PC and scan for viruses.
It means your antivirus may see the partition........

The Emergency Disks will not read NTFS.

Forget the floppy drive and spend the money for a good ghost program.

He'd still need a floppy drive with Symantec Ghost 2003.

|
| It's not an option. All standard floppies are FAT12.
